Mi camino hacia una conversión ecológica comenzó en un punto de partida inesperado. Desde niña estuve expuesta a una convivencia interreligiosa que me llevó, más adelante, a adquirir un gusto profundo por la poesía mística de distintos credos. Siempre en busca de nutrir este interés, sigo en redes sociales a algunas organizaciones como Religions for Peace International y Parliament of the World's Religions. Esta última ofreció el webinar Catholic - Buddhist Dialogue: Solidarity and Engagement on Climate Change (Diálogo católico - budista: solidaridad y compromiso ante el cambio climático) a principios de 2020. Dicho seminario me presentó una visión del mundo completamente nueva, en la que las acciones contra el calentamiento global se nos revelan como una urgencia que todos debemos priorizar, partiendo no solamente desde actos concretos y bases científicas, sino también desde una espiritualidad que nos reconecte con la Creación mediante la humildad, la caridad y la fe.
Fue así que empecé a leer la encíclica Laudato Si’ del papa Francisco sobre el cuidado del planeta —nuestra casa común— y los más necesitados. Este libro avivó intensamente mi interés en el tema, lo que me llevó a asistir virtualmente, primero, a la Semana Laudato Si’ del Movimiento Católico Mundial por el Clima y, después, al curso Somos Tierra, impartido conjuntamente por la Universidad de Monterrey (México), la Universidad Anáhuac (México) y la Universidad Incarnate Word (EE.UU.). Todo lo aprendido en aquellos espacios virtuales marcó el comienzo de una serie de cambios radicales en mi vida diaria, que me han llevado a invitar a otras personas a hacer lo mismo.
Justamente para poder compartir de manea más ágil todo lo que voy aprendiendo y meditando, he creado el blog The Green Logbook, que espero logre ser de utilidad a cualquier persona en busca de una experiencia ecológica integral, que no relegue la espiritualidad, sino que se nutra de ella. Así mismo, este proyecto digital ha sido el resultado de mi formación como Animadora Laudato Si’ durante el Tiempo de la Creación 2020 (del 1° de septiembre al 4 de octubre), periodo de reflexión ecuménica en el que más de 5 mil personas de tradiciones cristianas nos reunimos anualmente para rezar, meditar e intercambiar experiencias y conocimientos respecto a la apremiante responsabilidad que tenemos todos de sanar a nuestro hogar, la Tierra.
My path to an ecological conversion began in an
unsuspected starting point. Since I was child, I was exposed to an interreligious
coexistence that led me, later on, to acquire a profound taste for mystical
poetry of different creeds. Always in the search to nurture that interest, I follow
on social media various organizations such as Religions for Peace International
and Parliament of the World’s Religions. The latter offered a webinar called Catholic - Buddhist Dialogue: Solidarity and Engagement on Climate Change at the beginning of 2020. This
seminary presented a completely new vision of the world to me: one in which
actions against climate change are revealed as an urgency that we all must prioritize,
stemming not only from concrete acts and scientific bases, but also from a spirituality
that reconnects us with Creation through humbleness, charity and faith.
That
experience led me to read pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ encyclical about our care for
the planet—our common home—and for the needy. This book fuelled my
interest in the topic intensely, which led me to virtually assist, first, to
the Laudato Si’ week, hosted by the Global Catholic Climate Movement and,
later, to the course We are Earth, held conjunctly by the University of
Monterrey (Mexico), Anáhuac University (Mexico), and the University of the
Incarnate Word (U.S.A.) Everything that I learned in those virtual spaces
marked the commencement of a series of radical changes I applied to my daily
life; and moreover, this has led me to invite other people to do the same.
Precisely so I can share in a more agile manner all that I learn and ponder, I’ve created the blog The Green Logbook, which I hope is useful for anyone in search of an integral ecological experience: one that does not overlook spirituality, but that nurtures from it. Likewise, this digital project is the result of my formation as a Laudato Si’ Animator during the Season of Creation 2020 (from the 1st of September to the 4th of October), a period of ecumenical reflexion in which more than 5 thousand people from different Christian traditions gather every year to pray, exchange experiences and knowledge about, and meditate upon the imperative responsibility we all have to heal our home, the Earth.
